Admit to being out of touch with the modern world. My time was served when engineers everywhere could fix a Pratt and Whitney or a radio. When these days we talk of an airline basing x no of aircraft at say Liverpool, to what extent is the place a real base in terms of being able to change a wheel, fix a piece of avionics, fix minor problems which show up in the pre flight inspection etc? I am assuming the ground handling company takes care of cleaning, catering and toilets, but what about problem fixing on the machine, it's power plants and cockpit stuff?
