Hi Folks, Ley Farm,Chirk, N.Wales is found by travelling South along the A483 until it ends at a Roundabout with the A5. At this point turn sharp left onto a Minor road, again cross the roundabout and turn 1st. Right into Green Lane East. The Farm is situated about 500yds. on the right. Windsock/Caravans are visible from the road. Mr.John Pierce the Owner/Local Councillor was very friendly but only the Main Hangar was visited, which inclued the following :-
G-AKOE:- DH-89A Dragon Rapide.Named "Sir Henry Morgan" in old "British Airways" colour scheme. G-AZMX:- PA-28140. (Outside) G-CCNA:- Amateur Built Jodel DR-100A. Replica. G-ANFC:- DH-82A Tiger Moth, Destroyed by fire Dunstable 25/1/1971.,restored in 1999 at Welshpool, now based at Chirk. G-AJBJ:- DH-89A Dragon Rapide based at Chirk appeared to be under resoration. G-MWWB:- Mainair Sports-Gemini Flash 11A.
Mr. Pierce was sorry he could not find the keys to the other hangar, but stated that one was always welcome to visit his farm. P.S. Very muddy one at that.
P.S. Post-Code :-LL145BG. Hope this helps, Happy Spotting, DOUGLAS12.

As a matter of interest Douglas, was there a third Dragon Rapide in the hangar marked G-AJCL (in reality G-AIUL)?
Also, in the long grass beside the hangar was there a three tone green (or four tone if you include mildew moss) Nord Norecrin in Croatian markings - in reality G-BEDB and once a Liverpool resident back (probably) in the late 70s.
Nice to get an update report from here. Did you pre-arrange the visit with Mr Pierce? He once (some years ago) chased me off - not believing that I had a serious intention about paying homage to the three Dragon Rapides, mistaking me for a junk trader at the massive Sunday morning Table sale/market held on the airfield!

Hi Viscount, I visited the "Farm" on speck and after speaking to one of the sons of Mr. Pierce, I made over to the farm-house where there I found Mr.John Pierce (Senior). I told him the reason for my visit and after difficulty in finding the keys, he escortedme over to the Main Hanger. Viscount you are right there was another Dragon Rapide which he told me was G-ABCL, which was no doubt AJCL(AIUL). However, he appeared to be very friendly and when asked if there were any other aircraft to see, he replied, Yes, but I can not find the keys to the hangar. I then returned to my vehicle and I must say that I could not see any other aircraft in the vicinity. Guess, what though for your information, this weekend he is holding "A Car Boot Sale ". The Farm was very muddy and unsteady under foot.
Thanks for the aforementioned info. Cheers, Happy Spotting, DOUGLAS12.
