Hi Guys,
I've been contacted by the Assistant Exhibition Curator for the new Museum of Liverpool that is scheduled to open in 2010/11 at the waterfront. She is looking for assistance with a small display on Liverpool Airport. I've included an extract of her e-mail below.
"Dear Paul, I am working as part of the content team on the new Museum of Liverpool which is due to open at Liverpool's waterfront in 2010/2011. As part of our Global City gallery, we are planning to have a small display on Liverpool Airport. I came across the NWAN website whilst researching content for the display and wanted to enquire if you knew of anyone who would be keen to contribute in some way. The main focus of the display will be people's experiences of the airport (e.g. working at the airport as ground crew, air hostesses, pilots etc; working at the airport during the war; going on holidays abroad from the airport; spectating on the balcony; attending a special event). We are therefore very keen to talk to anyone who has an interesting story about the airport and/or related objects.
Whilst on the NWAN website, a number of images also caught my attention, in particular those of the inside of the terminal building in 1977. I wanted to enquire if we could perhaps use some of these images in the display and if so, whether you knew of the copyright details of the photographs."
If anyone has anything they think could be of interest, whether it be photo's, memorabelia or stories, please contact Victoria Newbury direct at Victoria.Newberry@liverpoolmuseums.org.uk.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi everyone,
I am the Assistant Exhibition Curator for the new Museum of Liverpool's Global City gallery and I am currently working on the display on Liverpool Airport. I just wanted to let you know that we are holding two drop-in sessions next week for people to come and talk to us about their memories of working at/travelling from the airport and for people to show us any objects/photos/souvenirs they have that relate to the airport and flying from the airport on holiday. We are going to be at BBC Radio Merseyside in the city centre on Thursday 6 August between 10am and 5pm and on Friday 7 August we will be at Liverpool John Lennon Airport between 10am and 5pm in the retail area on the upper floor. If anybody wants to come in for a chat about the display or to show us some photos/objects that relate to the airport, please feel free to do so.
Many Thanks,
Victoria Newberry
