I'm currently contemplating taking the step from paper logs to electronic database in order to help simplify logging & photo cataloging. I've got limited experience of the Freebird product which unfortunately doesn't cover light aircraft to the extent that I require, during my research I've concluded that either the Aerodata Q+ or ADU products are possibly the best available, but I'm finding it difficult to decide on which product having heard differing views about both and obviously want to start off with one that I'll stick with & will also hopefully be providing updates for many years to come.
If anyone does have knowledge of either of these databases then I'd really appreciate some honest advice. I cover most aspects of aviation, though my main interests are Military Aircraft (UK & Europe) and Light Aircraft (UK & Europe). I'm also looking for the answers to a couple of specific questions:- 1 - When inputting a log is it possible to save the "Full" log of everything that is seen (i.e Airshow participants list) or does the database only save "New" aircraft that have been seen for the first time on that day ? If the answer is the latter option, is there any method of saving "Full" logs for my records ? 2 - To what level of light Aircraft(Mainly UK) coverage do they provide, are only mainstream factory types listed or does it cover microlights & kitplanes ? Many thanks for any help/guidance you can offer.

Hi Neg, they send out a disk with the full Db on them, so that you can have a good look at whats on offer, and should you wish, you can even start logging to get a good idea how easy this Db is. After the trial offer, there are certain parts of the Db you wont be able to access anymore, if you then decide to purchase it, the full Db will be fully available again. It really is a great Db, with the weekly email updates too.......I've had lots of fun getting all my old sightings on there, and I've still got lots of old info to get in!!!!
If you need any help once it does arrive, please feel free to drop me a provate message.

Yes, I spent quite a time pondering my choice when I went over to computerised logging, wanted to get it right. So went to see the others in their tents at Fairford a few years back, and they gave me quite a comprehensive comparison. I also spoke to lots of spotters at various airports, I was a bit like the wierdo who talks to anyone at the airport for a while.....some will say I still am! I have to say it was the easiest to use, with really comprehensive listings. Also say you were off somewhere nice for your holiday, you can see whats based there beforehand.....and print out a list should you want to.

Hi All
Received my fully functional 30 day free trial DVD of Aviation Databases today, and must say it's fantastic better than what I've been using up to now.
It only took me a short while to get used to it and I have entered 215 aircraft into it, in no time at all.
