Saw an in depth report om TV this morning when the crew of the Aussie A380 which suffered the exploding engine some months ago s[oke of how bad things where, I was suprised at how close that came to being a major tragedy when i heard the Captain Pilot Flying explain how many of the functions had failed due to damage, only 3 of 11 fuel tanks functioned with a failed transfer system on the ones that still worked, flaps, air brake and ailerons on one side had been damaged , the list went on and one, thankfully they had a total of 9 senior air crew on board to use all the combined flying experience to land the 380. Having said how bad things actually where they were unanimous in praise for the aircraft as a whole as it managed to still be able to fly and land in this configuration which some other airliners would not have.
