With the number of websites around showing live tracking - flightradar24, radarvirtuel, casper etc, what are the benefits (if any) to buying an SBS box now?

I don`t own one so this may be wrong, but I think they show up more aircraft also some military stuff that is isolated out of the others. I recall two U-2 traces via SBS which crossed Wallasey recently that did not show on other tracking programmes. Any sbs owners confirm this.

You dont need an internet connection or a decent phone signal to run the SBS, admittedly its a lot bulkier than a phone, but at least you get to see everything in one go. As for military aircraft, they dont 'track' on the radar screen, but they do show up on the aircraft list. I think you need plane plotter for this, but then you need an internet connection.

CW, when you say Military flights do not track, what programme was used in which a member uploaded the flight showing the two USAF U2 aircraft arriving in UK airspace and traveling south across Wallasey to their base down south, was it planeplotter ?

It must have been plane plotter, which needs an internet connection. I picked up the U2s, but only in the list. G-PHIL uses planeplotter, hes the man to ask.
