Stayed at the Crowne Plaza - Liverpool John Lennon Airport recently - lovely hotel and the stay was excellent, but was alarmed at the sad state of the Rapide replica outside the main entrance. Clearly in need of some refurbishment and repair.

Yes, she is a bit of a mess, but plans are in hand and discussions ongoing with the hotel, with regard to the replica having a full rebuild to original condition.
It was said, back in 2001 when it was built, that without proper and regular maintenance it would last about ten years. In view of the damage that has been done by petty vandalism and the weather that assessment was bang on.
If it is refurbished then, perhaps, the hotel will look at some way of preventing hotel visitors and other folk having such ready access to it so that it won't suffer ladies in high-heeled shoes walking along the lower wings, men punching the cowlings and wings leaving the imprint of their knuckles and others trying to tear the propellers off it, as well as miriad other minor indignities.
That way, it may last a lot longer and, as a consequence, look a lot prettier than she does at the moment. There was a rumour of it being scrapped a few years ago but the hotel realised what an asset they had as it formed the backdrop to many a wedding or other special occasion there. It has now become a Liverpool aviation landmark and it would be great if they gave her a new lease of life and restored it to its former glory.

Perhaps video camera set up to watch the aircraft would help and signs warning of them of prosecution if seen. The damage is just further signs of the mentality and lack of respect which is spreading like a plague.
