Delighted to see the photograph of the front end of one of the old airport coaches pictured with the tail of a BEA Viscount elsewhere in the Nostalgia section.
Does anyone have further pictures or information about them, builders, how many in service, route number, timetable and routings?
Sorry if this duplicates an existing thread, but my search couldn't find one.

More information on them on Merseyside Transport Trust website. Only one remains and it is in their care being restored to its former glory. It did make a brief appearance at the airport's 75 aniversary celebrations.

Ah, but what about the original Airport coaches, namely the Bedford OB/Duple vehicles that LCPT inherited from BEA! Unfortunately, I cannot find a pic of one of these coaches; closest I can get is the EFE die-cast model in the pic! cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=390327393531Does anybody have a pic of one these coaches @ Speke? thetexpat

I found this on a buses on t.v. website, there is also a photo of it. "Born and Bred (BBC drama serial) Episode: The Last Hurrah (part 1) A 1950 Bedford OB/Duple, AYJ666 appears with 'Rattenbury' in the destination screen (screen capture thanks to Donald Grant). Mike Lloyd notes it's owned by McNeill of Todmorden (whose name it carries) and it also appeared in Yorkshire TV's Heartbeat among others." www.busesonscreen.net/screen/screentvbm.htmMike / Speedbird

Does anyone have further pictures or information about them, builders, how many in service, route number, timetable and routings? There has been much coverage of these buses (Airporters) in FoLA's 0927 magazine. Might be worth looking through back copies. Think FoLA was instrumental in getting one of these restored around the time of the Airport's 75th Anniversary.

www.bedfordob.com/ Ste, Found this site about Bedford OB's and it looks like TMY 173 is no more but some of the others illustrated could be what were BEA originals and might have been at LPL.

Thanks Dave,
I've managed to find one that was owned by BEA but Jersey based and not used in Liverpool. I seem to recall Mersey and Calder preservation group (MTT's predecessor) had one but think it may have been scrapped in the late 1980's. I know it was in a bad state but don't know if it was a Liverpool one or not. Perhaps Jordan (mtlnorth) may be able to find out.
