My days work activities were cancelled due to the weather so i paid a visit to Warton in the hope of getting some new build Typhoon pics. Well it didn't quite work out, although there was a primer Typhoon on the flightline it remained earthbound. I arrived at 1030 to be told by a friend that they were expecting the '1000000 GR hours' special scheme jet from Lossiemouth for some celebration event in one of the Warton hangars, but of course this had gone tech and a reserve was on its way south. ZA492 pitched up at Warton at just gone 1100 after a flypast at the Salmesbury site. It joined the circuit and flew a couple of low overshoots before landing. It departed back to Lossiemouth at 1613 as 'Lossie 15'. A nice 'bizjet' visitor arrived from Farnborough at 1126 in the shape of Falcon 900EX N876C. Test Bed Jetstream 31 G-BWWW has gained some extra bumps and aerials since i last saw it a few years ago. It is operated in conjunction with Cranfield and used for testing equipment for BAE UAV aircraft such as Mantis, Taranis, Fury and Herti (at least thats what it said on the port side of the nose!). And finally at 1532 a pair of Hawk T2 (ZK018 and ZK021) did an impressive pairs approach and landing in a very strong blustery westerly wind. Other things of interest were a Hercules on the cargo apron, a 29(R) Squadron Typhoon T3 on the southside and the ever present PC-9 ZK119. Cheers Shaun

Hello Ian
I am pretty sure it was the only one in the Warton area yesterday. I would say if you were around Preston on the M6 just before 1100 then that was ZA492. If you were any further north then there may have been other Tornado traffic not working Warton, certainly if it was low level.
I bet he got back up to Inverness a bit quicker than you did? Get yourself across to Lossie while you are up there.
Cheers
Shaun
