Nice one. Apart from the two images of the airport of particular interest is photo number 3. It shows the start to the construction of Speke Boulevard. Speke Road and the roundabout at Speke Hall Road are already complete. To the left of Speke Road is the airport perimeter fence and to the right is the site of the Cambrian Viscount (G-AMOL) crash but no sign of the factory it hit. In the background, Garston Gas Works can be seen. Today, the roundabout has been replaced by traffic lights, the perimeter fence has been renewed but still follows the same lines and now houses the Estuary Park Industrial Estate. Nothing once again stands on the crash site and only the steel frame of the tank can be seen of the Gas Works. Out of sight but directly to the left stands the new Dobbies garden centre and to the right Peoples Ford car dealers. I've no idea when this photo was taken but would guess at the mid 1930's some 30 years before the crash. Looks like the JCB is a futuristic concept too. www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/in-the-mix/2011/11/30/liverpool-nostalgia-looking-back-at-speke-gallery-100252-29866505/
