Was talking to a chap & he said that "the university have been building a tiger moth from the original plans & the parts have been moved to Woodvale. Its going to be flown at a special event later in the year".
Does anyone know any details about this?

It is one of the AEF older pilots who will attempt to get it airborne...good luck to him!

Believe that the flight was due to take place on the 23 July - did it happen or has it been rescheduled?
Cheers
Griff

Went to Heckmondwyke(somewhere in deepest Yorkshire.) to see the Sopwith Triplane that recently flew at the funeral of our last WW1 naval aviator. Very apt knowing the history of the Sopwith Triplane with the RNAS. A little aside that we were told about in the shed where the plane was being made(alongside a Bristol monoplane fighter.) Tom Sopwith who was about 100years old came to see the Triplane before he passed on. HE WAS SO IMPRESSED THAT HE SIGNED THE PLANE OFF AS A LATE PRODUCTION MODEL. AND NOT A REPLICA. What a man from a generation of giants.--God bless them all. The plane was the service model triplane rather like a Camel not the much older aircraft in the photos--it DOES fly. The triplane in the photos is A sopwith triplane not the RNAS one onwhich the Fokker Dr.1 was based. Hope I did not cause too much confusion by my interjection. John

I heard that it had flown one evening, but thats just word of mouth & I'd have expected it to be on the news if it had?!
