On the NW news today the AV Roe was due to get airborne today with a female pilot from Buxton at the controls, however it failed after two attempts of runs down the runway, not sure if they will try again as the contract stated a powered engne run was all that was needed. It is due to go the Air and Space Museum eventually. (Or was that a Buxom pilot from Derby) Hm didn`t see your post when i submitted this one it only appeared after I posted mine

BBC North West News carried an item about it yesterday lunchtime ending y saying that it was to be flown by a young woman in the afternoon. They were going to cover it again; plus the flight if it happened, in their evening bulletin but I did not see it. Anyone know if it actually took to the air?

Answering my own question...............BBC Liverpool report that it did not fly. Lack of engine power and weight were cited a the reason.

You've got to feel sorry for the team behind it, four years spent on the project & so close to getting airborne!

Here's a picture of the triplane as it stands now. It's currently being rebuilt for display at the Manchester Science and Industry museum.
