Hi all ;D
I remember being told a while back that around October in 2006 a cessna went down just before the threshold of 27 I've looked for reports on it an all I can find is that it came up short an went down in a field close by, I'm guessing it might of been near the approach lights. Just wondering if anyone has anymore info for this.
Thanks Liam : )

AAIB report on the accident can be found here... www.aaib.gov.uk/cms_resources.cfm?file=/Cessna%20182P,%20G-BTHA%2002-07.pdf Cheers, Dave

lfsflyer,
Don't recall it being allied to either of the maintenance organisations, being picketed out on the apron (as shown on Dave's photograph) when parked-up between flights, rather than hangared.
Yes, she was a write-off.
The LFS style blue underside/white top was a co-incidence.

The wreckage was removed to the Ravenair hangar, where it was covered in a tarpaulin before leaving by road (might be able to find more detail, bear with me!). edit wreckage was removed by road 2nd Feb 2007. Photo of it covered over in hangar (in front is wreck of PA-38 G-BMML and behind is C340 EI-CIJ).... Cheers, Dave

Have you got any pics off SD after her incident ? along with G-JURE No. I'd have posted them if I had. I think the hulk of G-LFSD was kept in a portacabin for some time - probably stripped of useful spares, before being disposed of. I don't think the remains of a very damaged G-JURE ever returned to Liverpool. If I remember correctly, it was very badly damaged in the subsequent fire after hitting trees. Link to the BBC report re G-JURE (including photos) is still available at... news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/5380302.stm

FoLA in their latest '09/27' Issue 120/Spring 2012, Graham Ward catalogues the known twins and larger that have suffered accidents on flights to or from, or at the Airport since 1930, along with those singles that have suffered fatal accidents from. to or at the Airport since 1945. At one stage of preparation the list included many singles that simply suffered accidents and forced landings - the trouble was when to stop as the serious subject was in risk of being flooded by the trivial - and one would wonder who would ever want to fly again given the length of the list! As I feel that producing lists of accidents and crowing about how safe flying is now is a short-cut hex to the next one, it is not a list I particularly wish to write on here. Hardly surprisingly Graham Ward lists as many airliner accidents and more loss of life during the first 25 years 1930-1955, as the subsequent 55 years to date. However, the article in 09/27 makes for an interesting read. If you don't subscribe and have an interest in LJLA, you should! www.fola.org.uk for more.

The cockpit section of SD now resides at the University of Liverpool where it's in the process of being converted into a fixed base simulator. Will get some photos next time I'm in .mic

Some quite nasty photos of G-JURE the pilot came out very lucky ! would of been a who different story if he was to have been unconscious after hitting the trees !!
