Hi Folks, With the Diamond jubilee coming up, I thought I'd post these images, scanned from slides, of the Queen's Silver Jubilee Review of the RAF at Finningley 1977. I have more, but the slide scanner is still not functioning well and may need replacing The "25" formation of JPs makes me feel very old when I now see the pics of the Tucanos forming "60" !! Cheers, Dave

Was it really that long ago? It just seems like yesterday. A very memorable occasion, it was also the only time i have ever seen the Queen.
Cheers

Just watched the Diamond Jubilee flypast on TV. Very impressive - especially the formations showing '60' and 'E11R' Great skills. Kev

That brings back some memories, especially getting a sun tan from the RAAF F-111F dumping his fuel into the re-heat GC

Oh yes guys, what memories, long overnight journey to Finningley, getting in the base mega early. Walking around logging everything that was there, then falling asleep on the crowd line.............only to wake up a few hours later with a HUGE crowd around us!!! :-) :-) :-)
As Silverback said, we had an Air Force then, AND a variety of aircraft as well.......rather than the tiny mish mash we have at the moment!!!!! :-(

Jack Do you just need the changes? Is so I still have BARG for 1977 tucked away and I know they pretty much covered it. I can dig it out and list the differences for you, but the whole list will take some typing Ian

hi, sorry for late reply, SWMBO had other plans for me today... the scramble list is mainly for the 29th with a few alterations for the 30th. So any help you can manage, its the J.Provests, Bulldogs, Jaguars, i,m interested in... if that's alright, and you confirm the RF-4C of the 10 TRW 50923 or 50935 in the flypast?
any help appreciated, regards,
jack...

Jack BARG says RF-4C 50935 Jet Provost changes on the Saturday, XW355/20 and XW328/22 replaced XW330/23 and XW368/31 in the RAFC aircraft and XW288/66 and XW404/77 replaced XW363/68 and XWXW426/60 in the 1FTS aircraft. No changes recorded in the Bulldogs. I need to read through the Jaguars and make sense of what it's saying before I write it up, so I'll get back to you on that soon Ian

Jack
Jaguars I now understand! XX118 was the 6 Sqn jet in the Strike Formation, the 54 jet remained unidentified.
The RAFG Germany Jaguars were XZ103/I 2 Sqn, XZ369/AP 14 Sqn, XZ383/BC 17 Sqn, XZ384/CM 20 Sqn and XZ390/DM 31 Sqn
Hope this helps
Ian

Ian, thank you for those, I,ve found one of my first LASSI Aviation News and Reviews for Sept. 1977, that contains a display report, which matches your report, except for the AR-RF-4 that gives 50923. So BARG and Scramble have it as 50935...?
when the midwife had me in her arms, she said it wouldn't be easy being a spotter!
thanks for your trouble, regards,
jack...
