Hi folks, Some of you train buffs may well be aware that next year marks the 75th anniversary of A4 Pacific "Mallard" breaking the steam speed record. To celebrate this, ALL the world 's surviving A4s will be at the NRM in York. The only two non-uk based examples are Dominion of Canada and Dwight D Eisenhower, in Canada and the US respectively. Both locos will be loaned to the NRM or two years. To get to the point, both locos are due though Seaforth Docks in early September. Maybe a photo op for someone like the choppers we see from time to time. The Dominion of Canada is in a poor state, never having even been repainted since its last lick of BR green in Doncaster many years ago This example will go up to Shildon for restoration prior to display in York. Hopefully, this website.. www.nrm.org.uk/mallard75will keep us up to date with the transportation of these locos. Hope this is of interest. Cheers, Dave

I'm not a buff in any way, I do however have a 6yr old who loves steam trains!!! And as an aside, as a young train spotter I saw the Mallard at Kings Cross on a couple of occasions, sadly never got a pic of her then. Would love to go over to the NRM when the open day happens.......and might even wander down to the docks when the two arrive by ship!!!!

The 2 loco's 60008 & 60010 are currently being unloaded from the Atlantic Conveyor at Seaforth, so I suppose they will become road runners in the next couple of days. GR
