Very interesting that the guy that had to surender at Singapore was the one who took the surrender of the entire Japanese nation--puts singapore in perspective. Well done that man--a fine historical point not wasted on the Japanese.

I have just finished reading "ENOLA GAY". (I know ...its quite an old book but not read by me until now.) For those interested in the war in the East it is truly fascinating. The effort to produce the bombs and the method of delivery, was enormous, more than I ever imagined. Much of the book is given over to other aspects of the war which leave the reader in no doubt as to the wisdom of having such a weapon and how it actually saved millions of lives by ending the was so definitively.
