Isn't there supposed to be a leisure complex going in next to Johnson Controls. These things are planned many years in advance and likewise the slip-road to its entrance off Speke Boulevard has been in place for quite some time now.
Most of the land within a mile of the airport has already been allocated so anything new would most certainly have to be placed within the Estuary Park or off either Speke Hall Road or Woodend Avenue.

Work on the hotel is coming on a pace. The extensions to the Fox pub are complete and the steel frame for the hotel is being erected. Looks like its going to be smaller than the first two.
Does anyone have an artists impression of this one?

Surely that can't be all of it Steve. Must be small and friendly if it is.

Artist's impression in the latest FOLA magazine. I think the steel structure is just for the main reception area - the hotel is supposed to be three stories and a timber frame structure.

Thanks John and Andy. I've been that busy, I hadn't had time to read through my copy of 09/27. The hotel although smaller in height than the previous two is to have 101 rooms, a Costa Coffee restaurant and, create about 50 jobs. If anyone wants to know more about Liverpool Airport developments and unlike me has the time to read through it; details of the 09/27 magazine can be found here www.fola.org.ukSteve

The structure is almost complete. Only needs the outside facing (cladding) etc to go on and be kitted out inside. Not sure of an opening date but by the way the work is progressing I would think it would be spring/summer 2010

Has anybody noticed that work seems to have almost come to a full stop.
I've not seen anything substantial taking place for a time now.
Anybody heard anything.

John, Contractors are still on site and work is progressing. Most of the outside is almost complete so the heavy equipment has been removed and the access slip road is now finished. I think we are not seeing a lot of development going on as they are probably working around the back or inside the building.

Work on the new Travelodge appears to be progressing well. To the rear of the building most of the cladding is up and the windows are in. Windows are now going in to the front and side elevations after which I presume internal fitting out will progress.

Most of the cladding is in place and the scaffolding is coming down. Looks nice.

The glazing is now going in to the communal area on the ground floor. I have to admit that I was unsure about the design of the building when I first saw the plans / architect's impressions, but it looks good, as budget hotels go! At a guess I'd say the building should be complete and ready to open by early May...but that is just a guess!

A photo of the hotel taken on the 3rd March. Very close to completion now and wont be long before the signage is in place.
