Think they should be able to afford it out of the £17 billion they are dipping into.

Not being totally in touch with NW regional politics, looked Andy Burnham up on Google. The only position I could see on a quick scan through is that of Lord Mayor of Greater Manchester. While it is true that Manchester has over the years assumed somewhat of a leading role in North West Regional transportation politics, surely it should be Liverpool's Lord Mayor we are looking to for pushing Liverpool's connectivity aspirations, not the elected official of a neighbouring conurbation who is focused on his own elected city's interests?
I am stating this as fact, not for debate.

You can obsess and whine about rails links to the airport as much as you like, but under the current funding settlement it ain’t going to happen. There just isn’t enough money. Try focusing on things that are more achievable and affordable in the near term like the eastern access corridor . I agree with you, Andy. However, there appears to be a total lack of communication around the eastern access road. I did tweet Steve Rotherham some months ago to request an update, but received no reply.

The Lord Mayor of Liverpool for 2024-2025 is Councillor Richard Kemp CBE. This is a position held for one year, largely ceremonial and chairman of the city Council. Steve Rotheram is an elected mayor of an enlarged Liverpool region. Its very much a choice of ones politics for the votes. He is of the same political persuasion as Andy Burnham. To what extent this influences his aims and actions I have no idea, but I can guess.

apparently he never even turned up to the jet2 launch ceremony,don't think he is interested in LJLA.why is he in the job ? at least andy burnham actively promotes manchester airport,railways and roads.reminds me of the two davids on spitting image years ago ! Was even around at the Lufthansa launch? I don't recall seeing him. He never speaks about the airport.

Steve Rotheram is noticeably taking second fiddle to Andy Burnham, it could be because the media are based in Manchester and he is the easiest to contact, however the report on BBC only mentioned high speed link between Liverpool and Manchester plus improvements to Manchester Airport station. this already has 4 platforms so what they want more for is a puzzle. We have no station and our mayor should have been shouting for this plus improvements to Central Station in Liverpool which is very crowded at times. The shouting for high speed links is not required as this would only knock 10 minuets off the existing times. Its like HS2 would only knock 1/2 hour off the London service. Who is really bothered?

Maybe the CEO of Liverpool Airport should be contacting the press and stating how Liverpool Airport is being totally forgotten here. Lets not even start with the adverse affect that this proposal would have on this cities airport .

The existing Aspire lounge is being replaced by larger lounges on level 3 where Frankie and Bennys was and along that side opposite the duty free. The new lounges will cater for the holiday passengers and separately for business people who do not want kids running round whilst they work/wait for their flight. The existing lounge is too small and very popular but some travel agents throw the entrance in with the booking and that means families with kids, not good for business use.

What happend to the lounge that F.O.L.A used to hold their meetings in that was by the Estuary Resturant? That was supposed to have been the "Business" lounge ?
