If thats the one I know of its been snaffled by an airline. What does this refer to please? Referred to the previous post What happend to the lounge that F.O.L.A used to hold their meetings in that was by the Estuary Resturant? That was supposed to have been the "Business" lounge ?

As I said earlier I can only remember one room in the terminal that FoLA has used.
Its now Jet2s crew room.

I think the lounge by the estuary bar was originally the BA business lounge and is now used by Ryanair staff.

The £17 billion mentioned yet again and four years to introduce a glorified bus route. As somebody who hasn't lived in the area for over 40 years, a couple of comments about these transport statements. The new rail link seems more to promote MCR airport as opposed to a faster link to MCR city centre, as Warrington to the airport would, I assume, use the WCML,with a branch off to get to the airport,which is SW of the city. The current route, I believe, is the other way round. I also, can't believe all the 17 billion is just for this 1 route in the country, despite spiralling infrastructure costs. As for a bus to LJLA, that doesn't seem much of an improvement. Heavy rail is out of the question. As I say, I am unlikely to use any of the services, so why should I care but I do. Sorry to ramble on.

They though have posted in the media that thay want £15 billion of that purse.

Just for some context - all the Express reporter has done is report an article from a small online paper. The article hadn’t for instance got any direct comments from Rotheram or an interview with him. They didn’t speak with local business organisations such as the Chamber of Commerce. Personally I’ve mixed views on this and recall a post on this topic which outlined the logistical problems of putting a rail link into the airport and that the numbers of passengers would not justify the cost. For instance the new Headbolt Lane Merseyrail station in north Kirkby cost £80m and that was just an extension of the existing line. If only the proposed Merseytram hadn’t been scrapped!

I think the point of the report is the that SR seems to be doing little on the subject of connectivity to the airport in his own constituency.
There has been been a lot of discussions on heavy rail to Liverpool Airport, the easiest access point would be a branch east of the airport around the area of the end of the A5300. Then the line could allow a station for Hale and Speke, before reaching the airport itself. This route crosses farmland for the majority of the way.
Steve Rotheram is suggesting a trackless tram, but we have seen no details about it, indeed he has had no communication with the airport either on the subject .

There are lots of aspects to the surface access to and from the airport that still need improvement and which would be quicker and cheaper to implement than a train. Some night time bus services for a start. There were also no black cabs on the rank at 2:15am this morning.
On a more positive note the work to expand the Border Control area is complete and does make a difference.
