Think I am right in saying that the original winter schedule for last winter was two per week and cut to one.
The season also finished early.
Re Grenoble moving to MAN, can someone point to that being the case (Jet2 will have Grenoble on it radar from Liverpool in any case)?

Grenoble only operates to southern UK airports, with the exception of Edinburgh.

Smoke and mirrors as normal Malta added twice weekly Planned Lyon service scrapped Grenoble transferred to Manchester Larnaca not operating for the winter Antalya dropped for the winter after November 27th Geneva reduced Lyon was never going to work from here and the passenger numbers was awful Was surprised myself, they dropped Berlin and Lisbon which were good routes for years.

Quite possible it will be a jet2 city break so maybe EZY will bring it back so they don’t lose out.

Just come across a Liverpool Airport timetable for 2004.
In 2004, easyJet had 8 Boeing 737s based operating 219 flights per week to 13 destinations.
Fast forward 20 years to 2024 and they have 7 Airbus A319/A320s based operating 165 flights per week to 24 airports.
Alicante - 13 flights per week in 2004, down to 9 in 2024 Amsterdam - 33 flights per week in 2004, down to 7 in 2024 Barcelona - 24 flights per week in 2004, down to 3 in 2024 Basle - 7 flights per week in 2004, moved to Manchester Belfast - 46 flights per week in 2004, down to 42 in 2024 Berlin - 7 flights per week in 2004, moved to Manchester Cologne - 7 flights per week in 2004 - Discontinued Geneva - 7 flights per week in 2004, Summer service moved to Manchester Madrid - 7 flights per week in 2004 - Discontinued Malaga - 21 flights per week in 2004, down to 12 in 2024 Nice - 21 flights per week in 2004, down to 9 in 2024 Palma - 15 flights per week in 2004, down to 13 in 2024 Paris - 21 flights per week in 2004, down to 5 in 2024

I’d rather have this summer’s schedule than 2004’s to be quite honest. The variety is better than low yield high frequency (in my opinion).

I fully agree, AndyH. LCC airlines are very adept at moving resource to where they will make the best return, we armchair CEOs have no idea of where the best yield may lie. Note also that the destinations listed for 2004 are very short haul. Today the operations to the Canaries, Egypt and Turkey take considerably longer and do not allow for the same frequencies. However, they are in keeping with easyJet’s move towards the easyJet Holidays concept. It would also be worth noting that the timetable for 1984 would be extremely short, wouldn’t include easyJet and would see circa 300k passengers per annum, far less than an average month in 2024.

Ametyst, without comparative yield data for all airports, it’s not possible to assess which markets are profitable and which are not. The airports you list are all significantly larger than LJLA. Liverpool survived the easyJet base cull in 2021 whereas the likes of Newcastle and Stansted did not. The fact that easyJet continues to base 7 aircraft here and looks at different routes surely is a positive.

We will agree to disagree. Easyjet operate Manchester to Amsterdam up to 6 times a day, Paris up to 5 times a day and Geneva up to 3 times a day. I think Liverpool is being grossly under served to those destinations.
Liverpool may well be up there if easyJet had not moved so much traffic from Liverpool to Manchester, and Ryanair as well.

I agree Ametyst,Liverpool is being grossly underserved on the routes you mentioned,once a day to Amsterdam is pitiful. There should be more frequencies on certain routes,and bring back Berlin,Madrid,Cologne,etc.
