Two fine shots of Avro Tudor 5s.
While I have no idea of the answer, a little about the two aircraft shown.
Both were built as Avro Tudor 2 - indeed the last 2 Tudors to be built.
C/no 1421 was allocated military serial TS907 but ntu. Regd G-AKCC to Ministry of Civil Aviation 16.8.47; converted to Tudor 5. British South American Airways Corporation as "Star Swift" and del. 11.2.49. Merged with B.O.A.C. 3.9.49; wfu & stored. To William Dempster Ltd "President Kruger", bt 5.5.50. Damaged beyond repair after over-shooting whilst landing at Bovingdon, Herts 26.10.51.
C/no.1422 was allocated military serial TS908 but ntu. Regd G-AKCD to MoCA 16.8.47; converted to Tudor 5. BSAA as "Star Eagle" and del 11.2.49. Merged with BOAC 3.9.49; wfu & stored. To William Dempster Ltd bt 5.4.50. Ops suspended end '53. To Air Charter Ltd bt. 5.4.54 as a spares source. Broken up Stansted, Essex .56.
Clearly taken at different times, G-AKCC with BSAA 2.49 - 9.49; G-AKCD with William Dempster 5.50 - 4.54. William Dempster were based at Blackbushe and later Stansted Airports by summer '51, but also flew services from Heathrow. They flew low cost charter freight and passenger flights mainly to South Africa with the Tutor. This puts Stansted more likely on paper, as it was their operating base.

Dave and Brian,
Thanks for the information on these.
These photographs were sourced from the same 'supplier as the one that Mr.Scholefield had obtained them, which is why we both have copies.
