There is currently a large industrial fire burning at a location described by Liverpool ATC as "five miles east of the airfield". This would place it somewhere in Runcorn. A police helicopter is in attendance, and inbound traffic for runway 09 is being advised to turn right on to heading 200 in the event of a go-around.

Keith this could be your fire to the East of the airport. Gorsey Lane Widnes, both ways between Bennett's Lane and Moss Bank Road Cheshire - Gorsey Lane in Widnes closed in both directions between the Bennett's Lane junction and the Moss Bank Road junction, because of a building fire at a recycling warehouse. Diversion in operation - for cars and other small vehicles via Tan House Lane. Lorries and other large vehicles need to use Dennis Road. Regards Beemer.

That's probably it Brian. A recycling plant was mentioned. I could have burnt all the paper and plastic myself!

Whether it is related or not I don't know - but we have a fine white powder almost like talc over cars and houses here in south Liverpool - anyone got the same?

One of the perks of landing r/w 09. The wind is blowing away from the Beemer residence towards Liverpool. Think of the white bits as a rehearsal for the snow we could get later this week. ;D

If that had started burning, we'd all be in the dark by now! ;D

I did a delivery to the Poo Farm at Bennets Lane, Widnes to-day not knowing that the fire was adjacent to it and this is what I was met by. The workers are working one hour on and one hour off with face masks. This place as you can imagine stinks at the best of times but this was worse. Regards Beemer.
