Stirred memories of seeing the first BOAC '747 to visit Ringway. I wasn't at the airport but saw it fly east of Ashton-under-Lyne and establish on what was probably a 14 mile final for RW24. I think it was G-AWNC and sometime in the early seventies?
Thanks
Shaun

Spent many years on them,my favourite of all the 747 series. Favourite job was Upper deck steward, 30 passengers and 3 flight deck to look after, what a great job it's been over the years. Bob.

Nice one Samba!!!! I remember going to LHR the day the first three GAWNA/B/C were all delivered into LHR. We'd seen the "odd" Panam one parked on T3, but BOAC had all three in their maintenance area so you could get quite close to them.........you could still climb the blast deflecting grass mounds in those days!!!!!!

I remember seeing the first Tristars when they arrived at Heathrow. Went down on an MAS trip. Spotted a few crew training at Ringway too - roll on the A380 deliveris in 2013
