New Manchester routes to Moscow, Prague and Thessaloniki from Spring 2013.
This will also bring in an 8th based aircraft.

The Moscow route is interesting, is it the first time they've flown there? Also interesting to see if it's DME, SVO or even VKO? Could make for a good spotting mini break GC

Moscow is quite a bold move, I hope it pays off.
This makes 8 aircraft (5xA320 3xA319) and 32 routes, and this week carried their 5 millionth passenger since starting in 2007. Not a bad effort really.

I believe the Moscow airport will be DME. The thing which puzzles me is, why Moscow for a LoCo? It costs at least £100 for a visa and will I believe, be the first country covered by a LoCo for which a (real) visa is required. Given current relations between Russia and the EU, I can't see that requirement disappearing in the near future. It's one of the world's most expensive cities, and unless you speak at least some Russian, it's very difficult to find your way around, not least because of the Cyrillic script. (The Metro, for example, does not have any signs in English - or Roman script as the Russians call it).
No chance of a 25-minute turnaround - they'll be lucky to get one in less than an hour, which means a 10-hour duty day for the crews - they're going to love that! I know they do SSH and PFO from MAN in the summer - they hate those runs too, but if they stick with MOW during the winter, it'll get very interesting!
The one area where it could work is if they make a deal with tour operators and take groups of pax.
I wouldn't get too excited about visiting for spotting purposes, unless it's part of an organised tour. All three airports have signs on the windows expressly forbidding photography and I'm reliably informed that if the staff see people taking photos, they report them to security. Old habits die hard, y'know!

The airport is DME. LGW/MAN-DME start in the same week.
I just hope it pays off. Easyjet have obviously seen a market (they expect 60,000 per year on MAN-DME).
The thing that will be interesting, is that Aeroflot applied for 7 weekly MAN-SVO earlier this year, and got the rights. They intend to start 2014, but I wonder if the threat of the lo-co may bring them to the fold a lot sooner than expected. Aeroflot vs Easyjet outside of London, Im not sure who I would put my money on.
