Came across this site and spent a few hours delving around. It features disused stations in the UK....so, plenty here for everyone. The link provided is for Liverpool Central. Makes interesting reading and the photo's (three pages, accessed via the click here link at the foot of the page) are great too. Follow the links through for some interesting rail nostalgia - enjoy. www.disused-stations.org.uk/l/liverpool_central_hl/index.shtml

Well, we won it (at no small cost!!) and this fantastic 13 ft sign now resides in his garage, fixed to the wall on purpose-built brackets). Amazing that it had survived for so long, but the previous owner ( a builder) had had it for years when he bought up a load of old stones from the site. He wasn't even sure what it was until he put it on eBay and the interest grew and grew! Will add a photo of it shortly. Hope you and the family are well. Cheers, Dave

Ste/folks, If you take a look at the photo of a very tatty Liverpool Central Signal box (1971, just before closure) from the earlier given website.... www.disused-stations.org.uk/l/liverpool_central_hl/index66.shtmlThe sign is clearly visible on the box. Well, this is how it looked just after my brother took delivery of it around a year ago now.... Just amazed that it has survived. It is wooden (but very thick), with metal lettering.

Wow! Bet everyone thought that that had been lost for ever. Looks in really good condition for its age too. Dread to think how much it cost but well done in securing it for Phil.
I'm fine and the family are all well too - thanks for asking. Hope everything is fine your end and that you and your family have a great Christmas and prosperous 2013.
