Saw an advert on TV regarding visits to submarine etc. Ad featured one of the Mersey Ferries and I got to wondering whether or not, these vessels are the same ones I used to travel on over 60 years ago. How many boats are there? Are they still the same hulls, and have the engines been replaced etc. There used to be at least four of these boats in my time, plus the Royal Daffodil , which was a bit different and cream in colour.
I Remember Woodchurch and Egremont but the other names escape me

Yes I've seen that advert and quite fancy a look around the submarine and a trip on the ferry as well - provided the "missus" pays for lunch.
Reminds me of the cleaner we had at our Trafford Park factory - he had the same brush for fifteen years years. He changed the head ten times and the handle five times but according to him it was the same brush.

Sadly Ron the Cream one was sold off some years ago and now apparently is rotting away with all her history somewhere along the Thames I think. The ferries have a web site www.merseyferries.co.uk/On this you will also find a link to the Submarine U534

Just a useless piece of info relating to the Ferry Boat built at Lairds, I have a pair of apprentice made bronze props from the boat. I admit not the real life size. But small works of art. I picked them up at a car boot sale from a guy who made them when he was an apprentice at Manganese Bronze and also Lairds.
