The bad in the great USA.

I wanted to share the blog which follows to illustrate a point. Although the subject of this article is known to me, I am not posting this article to get donations, so please do not think that. I really just want to show how tough it can be out there sometimes. For all of its failings, (alledged) our health services do not allow families to get into this kind of near destitution.

I am compelled to post this item, because as much as I love the USA and its people. it is far from a paradise over there for the average working man. You lose your job and you lose your health care and goodness knows what else. Many take loans to pay for the bills and end up on the street. This is not fantasy.

Danielle is an award teacher held in high regard,a taxpayer and a good member of the community...and yet, the family cannot pay the medical bills without help. I know this to be true, from personal experience in my own family when we experienced something terrible. Were it not for the friends of my daughter we would not have known where to turn. This is where the traditional warmth of Americans shines through.

It is exactly this kind of situation the President Obama is trying to put an end to in his health care reforms. I am glad he was re-elected , just for this alone.

On June 20th, our dear friend Danielle Peeples was diagnosed with Invasive Breast Adenocarcinoma, an invasive and fast growing form of breast cancer. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy, and will need about 6 months of chemo before her mastectomy. After the surgery, she will have daily radiation treatments.


Danielle is a 1st grade teacher at Rosemont Elementary in Pine Hills, where she was voted Teacher of the Year in 2012. Although she has health insurance through her job, she is unable to work during her treatments, and the pile of medical bills and co-pays keeps mounting.


Danielle and her husband Richard (also known as Mr. Richard to his loyal fans) have dedicated their lives to children. While Danielle is a teacher at a low-income school, Richard is Orlando's favorite children's musician, or as he calls it, kiddie rocker.

This amazing couple has given so much to our community. They have taught our children and made them smile. Mr. Richard has donated his time and talent to countless charities and fundraisers.

*In case you are wondering, I am a friend and neighbor of Danielle and Richard. When they told me that the co-pay for 3 of Danielle's anti-nausea pills was $75 (for 3 little pills!!!), I knew I had to do something to help. Thanks again

Amazing that the US gives Billions in 'Aid' to well off countries , yet its own Citizens can be thrown on the streets to live like hobo's .

Read in the Aviation News mag today that the first of India's 10 Globemaster 111s has recently flown.This for a country where over 7000 kids die A DAY from malnutrition.A figure that even the Indian Goverment doesn't dispute.

Don't be too hasty to criticise other as as we are heading the same way. I never imagined that people in this country would be dependent upon food banks but many are. And this in a country where we allow Banks to run rings around the government and pay themselves, out of our taxes, huge bonuses. Come on Messrs Cameron and Osborne, stop driving us to third world status.

Absolutely agree.This country is SKINT like BIG TIME.So why are we subsidising countries that despite the abject poverty of much of their populations are managing to find money to buy huge amounts of armaments and VIP toys? We are going the othere way at a rapidly growing pace.I was in the RAF for some 20 years from the mid 60's and in all that time for one reason or another it was cut after cut till we have come to the stage that our Forces are puny with restricted deployable capability( apart from the RN nuclear subs).But hey, we will only ever act in conjunction with our Allies.Oh, really? I think we as aviation keenies all realise where we stand on what is going on.

But to return to the disgraceful neccessity for food banks,don't worry everything is fine I mean really fine .DC says so so it must be true.And after all, we only had to spend 9.8 BILLION on the Olympics and we have the Commonwealth Games games to look forward to.As I only the other overheard George Osborne ask in that delghtfulfully detached way the other day" I wonder if Mamma will be visiting the Foodbank today?" Should make a change from the shooting and fishing I guess.

The answer for many is a simple one for individuals and nations--get your priorities right--don't give away your hard earned resources to greedy and wasteful foreigners and take out insurance or save instead ,of indulging in less important activities.
Cigs and ale or the equivalent are less important and frankly self indulgent if you have not made proper health arrangements.
On a national scale --free yourself of the leeches and the nation will prosper--and I incude politicians,bankers and the hordes of scroungers that thanks to St Tony arrived here to the tune of 2.5 million and those are the ones the government counted.
I note that our Government has started to log anti moslem e mails etc as perceived hate crimes-I suppose blowing up buses and railway stations are just expressions of political freedom . I could weep for my once proud nation and its people. I suppose the fall of the Roman civilisation had a similar theme.just wonder where it will all end.In Rome's day many Britons went to live in France---Brittany.not surprised.
