I've retired to Tenerife and am helping with research in compiling a British History of the Island.
Does anyone any info on the aircrash involving this aircraft (I already have the accident report).
I'm interested in a documentary the BBC did about the incident, I am unable to locate it.
I'd also like to know if a memorial exists to the poor souls lost. If there isn't one I'll see to it that that is rectified. The area of the crash scene is very steep and thickly forested so maybe a memorial is in there somewhere. I'm told that it still remains the largest loss of life involving a British aircraft, I don't know if that is true.
I am hit with a wall of silence from the Spanish authorities when making any inquiries about this.
Thanks, Bill

Thanks Kev.
I've read the report. Its the BBC documentary I really want, plus of course any info re memorial. On that point, are memorials in these cases commonplace? I wouldn't imagine memorials at airports going down well, but at crash scenes?
I posted this here as it departed from MAN but maybe I should have posted this in 'further afield' section. If i'm wrong I'm sorry.
Thanks again. Bill

Thanks Biggles.
Yes have seen Pprune, don't think much of that site or its contributors.
I've probably got enough on the incident, its not going to be dwelt on, but unfortunately is part of a 'British History' of the island.
Having read the report, then asking local officials about any memorial etc I was amazed by the wall of silence.
But maybe as the guys on pprune said to the documentry maker, we should simply let it be. I would have thought some sort of memorial would have been erected though.
Thanks for you help.

Thanks Ste.
No wasn't me in 2004. My only interest is as previously mentioned.
Think the Dan Air incident is the subject of many theories and I'm not willing to open a can of worms as there is nothing to be gained by doing so. However I am willing to push the Spanish into at least putting some sort of basic plaque memorial at the site.
There is now a memorial to the infamous TFN runway collision, not at the airport but nearby in La Laguna.
I've got my information which will be used sympathetically.
Thanks for all your help.
