On the strength of the 'heads-up' provided by Rubberneck, headed down to the 27 mound at around 1350 in the hope of a reasonable shot of the Welcome Air Dornier departing. EasyJet A.319 G-EZGK wrapping-up it's undercarriage on departure from 09. Having been waiting for a short while, realised that the Navajo departing 09 was not a Navajo, grabbed the Camera and captured a rapidly departing Aerostar N711TL. Not the best angles on this very smooth, graceful design and new resident, but the first to appear on nwan. It returned later after a short local flight. Finally at 1500 (Rubberneck can you check your source is converting the information you pass on into BST?), the Welcome Air Dornier 328 departed 09. Being empty it took-off early and executed a very early right turn en route southwards. From the lay-by on the road beyond the 27 mound, all I was presented with was a frustrating shot of the underside. Not what I had waited to see! The strange effect in the top photo should have been a really 'clever' two aircraft in one frame, but I was a micro-second too late on the shutter, damn, not my afternoon!. Roll on the return of westerly airflow, please - with 27 in use you know that you are in the right location for a shot on arrival or departure, with 09 luck plays too great a part. Still two shots of a Dornier's belly to fascinate you all! The BBC Countryside 'weather for the week ahead' offers no respite, with a dry, easterly or south-easterly flow all week (indeed well into next weekend), along with frosty nights for us. Moan over.
