Has this ever happened to you? While driving on the M56 Chester to Warrington just approaching the Runcorn turn off, J12 I think when the van suddenly started to veer left and right. I was in the fast lane at the time doing 65mph (governed) so I put my flashers on and made my way thru' the traffic to the hard shoulder. The rear nearside tyre had de-laminated itself. There was no bang. The hard shoulder of the bridge was over the Weaver Navigation (River) and when I called the company breakdown a recorded message advised that I leave the vehicle and climb over the barrier for safety. I didn't take the advice as there is a drop of about 100 feet and drove the vehicle on the rim to safety till help arrived. Here is a photo of the tyre.

Ste it's a leased vehicle and we have to deal with Kwikfit for our tyres so you assume you get the right ones. When the Kwikfit fella saw it he was gobsmacked and showed it to his mates. Regards Beemer.

I've seen that with lorry tyres, but never with a smaller vehicle. Judging by the tread it looks relatively new, so I wonder whether it's a manufacturing fault.
The guys at kwik-fit where I had my tyres changed last year were telling me that there are cheap imports beginning to appear on the market. I reckon Uniroyal would be interested in seeing that tyre. It might be worth getting in touch with them directly.
An unpleasant experience, that's for sure.

Interesting photo, my daughter in her A1 with a tyre about 12 months old had a very similar incident recently .M56 near Daresbury exit. Tyre just shredded itself, maybe dark forces at work on that motorway

Don`t mention run flats I had them on my Jeep until needing replacement recently and it was impossible to obtain any supplier within the UK for my size and speed rating. Not a comfortable ride either on low profile RF tyres, Now wearing normal tyres, problem now is I don`t have anywhere for a spare as it came with nowhere to store one originally, as on a normal Jeep. Now have to carry can of tyre repair foam. Small price for having a monster Porsche eater. LOL
