I just wouldn't trust any of these online fly-by-nights, that's all they are. Whilst you may save 10-20% in cost over a branded retailer, you just don't have the security of a bonafide, established stockist. Additionally, in the very unlikely event that this lens develops a fault, you'd find it very difficult to have any recourse with the retailer. It's just not a risk I would be personally making with over a grand of my hard earned.
Glad you got sorted in the end, but still I would be very wary of any of these lightweight web-based outfits...
Enjoy the lens, it is a cracker and I'm sure you'll get some fantastic captures.
