Actor Bill Pertwee has died aged 86. Bill was best known for his role as Hodges in the Dad's Army series. He played the greengrocer who doubled up as the Warden with the catchphrase 'Put those lights out!' RIP Bill. www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22680499

RIP Bill Pertwee. Guess Ian Lavender is the only surviving main actor now? Must be an age related thing, I used to look forward to TV programmes like Dad's Army, It ain't Half Hot Mum etc. Now I'm just glad my girlfriend's working tonight so I don't have to endure such drivel as Emmerdale Farm, Britains Not Talent and Coronation Street, instead just a couple of hours of Radio 4 and a re-read of Desmond Young's "Rommel" GC

I still find Dad' Army and the like still funny after 45 years. Will modern comedy still be regarded as as funny after the same time scale or maybe not. RIP Bill.
