Hi Folks, Have stumbled across this. Haven't seen any more detail about it and the link below is not to the event itself. Sorry if I missed it mentioned elsewhere, but its the first I've heard! Aintree Hot Air Balloon Festival Dave

Chap at work has just come in and told me about this, he passed the racecourse last night!
Saturday is out, RIAT, but if the weather is good, sunday could be the day. And I think only £3 entry with children under 1.2metres free!!!!!

I have 'nicked' (or should I say 'copied') this event poster from the organiser's facebook page. Of interest as the first HAB event on Merseyside since 2001, although clearly this is a big commercial event involving much more than HABs. I know a number of the '27 mound' regulars that are not down at IAT Fairford are planning to drop in. All reports welcome, the event times are right down at the bottom of the poster. Having been outside shortly before 10pm last night it was far from dark - it will be interesting to see how a night glow and fireworks work in dusk conditions. Clearly most inflations will be within an arena and tethered, there is no indication if there are likely to be early am or late afternoon free-flights or not - certainly would only be possible if the wind drift is away from the Liverpool Control Zone. Question is, do HABs spook Meerkats and is Sergai scared of fireworks?

I went down today and was very disappointed! A hot air balloon fest with no hot air balloons flying. I had a ticket for a flight on the helicopter but they transferred it over to tomorrow for me after it went tech. I got chatting to the woman on the desk and they said they're flying another helicopter in tomorrow to deal with the unexpected demand for the flights. So there should be at least two helicopters operating tomorrow. Hopefully i'll get up this time and i'll post some pictures tomorrow . At least the weather was nice...

Once again, no Balloons flying. However, the helicopter flight was absolutely superb! Very friendly pilot. I was lucky enough to be in the co-pilot seat and having only ever flown on the Civil Seaking to the Isle of Scilly, it was a brilliant experience to fly in a smaller helicopter. So a few from today.
