Hi all new to this forum so this question may of been asked before, is there an aviation viewing area at Warton? My main interest is military comms so I monitor Warton from home but have never been over. Any info would be a real help.

Tony, You're not a member of Milscanners are you by any chance? Anyway, Naze Lane runs parallel to the Warton runway. There is a mound on the side of the road which gives views across the airfield - not an official viewing area as such but the closest thing there is Alex

I was at Warton yesterday afternoon, Typhoons, Hawk and a Nimrod were active on test flights plus the BAe comms aircraft ie Bae 146 etc. If you take A583 Lytham St Annes road out of Preston you will come to the A584 slip road ,turn off towards Lytham St Annes, its a dual carriageway, about a mile further along you will come to a garage on the opposite carriageway, turn left here and go slowly through the estate untill you come to a mini island with a sign Naze lane Ind site, turn left and follow the road past the end of the runway(hidden by trees) and the mound is about 100 mtrs along,if you miss the turn go into Freckleton and turn left at the lights and follow the road untill you reach the mini island .If you intend taking photo's you will need a stepladder (3/4 steps as the fence is quite high) Don't lean the ladder against the fence as the security might get the wrong idea, Hope this helps, groth
