Mel Smith dies of heart attack aged 60
"Comic actor and writer Mel Smith has died of a heart attack, aged 60, his agent has confirmed.
The British comedian - known for the sketch shows Alas Smith and Jones and Not The Nine O'Clock News - died at his home on Friday, Michael Foster said."

I had the pleasure of meeting Mel on a number of occasions when i used to work for a Private Hire Company in London.
I will always remember the day i was taking Mel and Griff from Channel4 to LBC Radio for a broadcast. They both sat in the back of the car, as we approached traffic lights Griff's newspaper would start to rustle in anticipation of them changing to red and if they did he would hide behind his newspaper until the lights had changed to green and we built up enough speed that he was confident Joe Public would not see him.
Mel on the other hand was totally the opposite, he would chat to me about all kinds of things and certainly did not worry about the public seeing him.
Mel asked what sort of music i liked, i told him Rock, the second i said that he dived through the gap between the front seats, he then grabbed all my tapes from the centre console and rummaged through my collection until he found one he wanted me to put on.
