Not sure if anyone else has had a similar issue but I've just tried using ALT129 to create the "ü" in Düsseldorf with limited success intially. On my old Windows XP laptop I could use the ALT key and also the numeric keys below the function keys, in 8 this opens a drop down menu. I've found the ALT codes only work in 8 when num lock is selected and the right hand numeric key pad used. Might be old hat to some but it was frustrating me that another Microsoft "improvement" was stopping me using correct letters, scientific symbols etc!

GC, I tend to be a bit lazy with words like ÜMLAUT. I find the word in Google and copy and paste it into the sentence. Regards Beemer.
