Hi folks, I passed through York station a few times during August and was lucky enough to catch the Scarborough Spa Express on a couple of occasions and also the Scarborough Flyer. Also popped into the NRM to see how many A4s were there - there were four (Bittern still there too, although I saw it outside on a later visit). I was also delighted to see LMS Jubilee 45699 Galatea, which I hadn't seen since I walked round Dai Woodham's scrapyard at Barry in 1978. It looks in somewhat better shape now! Hope you like the pics, Dave LMS Royal Scot class 46115 Scots Guardsman on the Scarborough Spa Express 13th August LMS Princess Coronation class 46233 Duchess of Sutherland on the Scarborough Flyer 16th August Gresley A4 Pacific 60008 Dwight D Eisenhower in the NRM Dwight, Mallard and Dominion of Canada Bittern on the turntable LMS Jubilee class 45699 Galatea, seen through a mucky window at the back of the NRM LMS Class 8F 48151 on the Scarborough Spa Express 20th August. Unfortunately this was not allowed to operate in full steam due to the risk of lineside fires, so the accompanying Class 47 directly behind it assisted. Clearance to resume full steam ops was given later in the week, so I was reliably informed ;-)

Hi Dave,
Great photos and movies too. Note what good condition those coaches are in. Why is the diesel attached? Please don't tell me it is in case the steam locos break down.
Although we have heritage railways here in France, nothing to compare with this. Alongside real beer, one of the few things I miss.

Ron Hi Ron, Yes it is and it costs a hell of a lot of money if normal services are disrupted by an engine failure. However, it was also used to provide the bulk of power when there was concerns of lineside fires with the steam loco operating at full pelt. It was later cleared. Dave

Like the photos, even though I know nothing about trains they are still marvellous bits of engineering. Just noticed for all you train people, on channel 5 tonight is a programme called monster moves about bringing two A4s from the US to York museum. Presumably these were in the photos.
personally I had no hassle getting my A4 just went to Warrington Audi, seems much closer!
