Just to keep you up to date with the bridge works, the matrix signs are showing that the weekend/night-time lane closures are postponed for this weekend 09/10-11-13. There is a God after all. Regards Beemer. There is some work going on as you turn off the bridge at Runcorn on to the Bridgwater Expressway adjacent to Homebase. This is causing some hold ups but won't effect onward traffic to the M56.

You are probably getting bored with the bridge works up-dates by now but, The bridge road works have now been extended til' December the 6th.
I think it is thoughtless of the Halton Borough Council to close lanes off as Christmas is approaching, hindering the would be shoppers from both sides of the Mersey from reaching Liverpool, Chester, Runcorn and Widnes. Regards Beemer.

There will be delays on Runcorn bridge on Sunday the 8th of December. No not roadworks but the annual Santa Dash Santa Dash 2013 Start Date 08/12/2013 End Date 08/12/2013 Location Start from West Bank, Widnes Event Details After the success of Halton's first ever Santa Dash in 2011 the Santa's are back to run across the bridge once more in 2013. This family friendly event has been organised to fund raise for Halton Haven. The 5k route starts in West Bank, Widnes before crossing the Silver Jubilee Bridge. It then travels along Runcorn’s express and bus ways for a short distance before finishing on High Street. So that all the family fun runners taking part will be safe, it is essential that some of the roads in and around the area are closed to prevent traffic mixing with Santa’s. The Silver Jubilee Bridge will be temporarily closed from approximately 8.55am for about 20 minutes to allow runners safely across the Bridge. The A557 (Watkinson Way) will be closed southbound all day at the junction with Ashley Way, traffic will be diverted to the Bridge via Ashley Way and Ditton Roundabout. The Bridgewater expressway eastbound from the Bridge slip road to Astmoor Road will be closed from 9.00am until approximately 9.30am. Astmoor Road will be operating a one way system from Wigg Island to the expressway. High Street, Runcorn will be closed to vehicles (except buses) from 8.00am until 11.00am. Vehicles will be able to gain access to Runcorn Town Centre via Church Street. Entries are still open for the fun run if you wish to take part, just go to www.haltonhaven.co.uk or telephone 0151 495 2111. The late entry desk will be open on the morning until 8.30am at Spike Island Visitor Centre.

Thanks for the update Brian I suppose all good things must come to an end it was good while it lasted. During the last lane closures I spent more time crossing the bridge than the rest of the journey into North Wales. Thanks again Les McS

Found this link for bridge cameras that show a moving image. A bit jerky but moving non the less. They appear to be Halton BC's cameras but they only show a still image, Regards Beemer. They seem to take a while to come on. www.widnes-weather.co.uk/cameras.php
