General Comments
The day was high cloud, with some sunny spells and occasional brief light rain. The wind was cool and strong, blowing straight down 19. 13 was the active runway until 1115, then the control wagon moved to 19. Any miss-heard radio call-signs I'll blame on the strong wind! Amazing how quiet Valley seems when there is no routine Hawk activity! An enjoyable day out despite the cool strong wind, with some interesting aircraft appearing, although there was little on the ground this year.
The road down to the 13 threshold was completely closed by the police, the bridge car park used for parking guests, so closed to the public. However an enterprising local had opened her field for parking (donation to riding for the disabled). Many external viewers were using vantage points for 19 that I was previously unaware of along a RSPB/fisherman's footpath that led through the parking field, over the railway towards mounds and the lake under the extended centre-line.
I was unaware that the long runway 14/32 had become 13/31. 19/01 has not changed.
If anyone else was there, possibly best to enter your full log, rather than patch-in the blanks on my report. I was recalled back to Liverpool due to a panic at home, leaving at 1420. Almost certainly more happened after I had left. So what did I miss ?
