Seems to be a massive dispute ongoing at this field between the owner and Lancashire Aero Club. Seems a shame when an owner of a private airfield is suddenly faced with demands from a large organisation and legal cases. www.ashcroftair.co.uk/page1.htm

For the alternate view point, which appears to put the cause for the burst of legal proceedings and bad feelings fully on the on the Ashcroft side: www.lancsaeroclub.co.uk/lac/latestquery.phpAt one time there was a much fuller account of the 2010 discussion to purchase Ashcroft and the reasons why negotiations ended then. There is also comment to be found in the LAC web magazine eg the Summer 2013 edition Page 14 on the knock-on effects of the dispute. As always there are two sides to an argument. I have opinions on this, which I will keep to myself, as I hope will others while litigation flies round like confetti. Although not really relevant to this thread or post, the history of LAC goes back some time, a brief account on: www.lancsaeroclub.co.uk/lac/history.asp

I heard today that the owner of this strip has now lost his long legal battle with Southport Aero Club ? over the right to use the strip for use of heavier aircraft. I believe he is appealing the decision. It seems odd to me that any club or pilot would want to use a water logged grass strip for any flight that could possibly fail to get airborne. I am told that a two seat Zenair has a hard time lifting off in some conditions, with two people on board.

Biggles, a thread for this topic is already open (somewhere)
My understanding is that the legal action is dropped, rather than lost. Both sides reports on legal action are on the web (or at least were recently)
My understanding is that the legal action was commenced by Ashcroft owners, not LAC.
The action involved the Lancashire Aero Club (not Southport and Merseyside Aero Club, or the Barton based Flying School).
Whole situation is confused with contradictory statements from the two sides - depends much on which side of the action you hear stories from. Personally I feel it best if NWAN Forum stays away from making comment on the situation.
