I know from reading the logs/reports on the forum that quite a few members have done this round robin with Ryanair.
The questions I have are around whether to stay airside at SNN and LGW and is it possible? Is there any hassle from security etc?
Any replies gratefully received.
Regards
Peter

Hi Peter,
The good points in both airports are thier airside views.
At Shannon you don't realy get any chance to remain airside as you land its strieght through passport control the out. No real views from outside the building but Shannon does have a viewing area on the top floor via the lift in arrivals hall. The top button in the lift is for the viewing area if lit. If not lit it means that it is closed. If closed we proceed back through departures and spot from the windows by departure gates. No difference in view just a level lower and with rest of passengers.
Arrivals at Gatwick for Ryanair have been arround gates 12-14 South Terminal which allows views of most of the airport but you tend to get moved allong. What we do is go through arrivals turn arround and go through departures and the dreaded search Q's. Once through head back past 12-14 towards gate 20 which is on the end of the pier. Windows usually not too clean but this gives you best views of any runway movements, most parking areas and of the North Terminal stands. You pass the WH Smith on the way we allways stock up on drinks from there as cafe a bit dearer down the pier. Allways check your gate number regular as has been known to change and a long walk if they use gate 8 over by where the flybe is usually parked. Has a good trip and dont forget the logs after..........

Thanks Chris for the info, that's really useful. Have been to the viewing area once before at Shannon, but might just opt for the return to departures. As for Gatwick, I was thinking of having a walk out onto the road underneath the approach to 26, but the time that will take, plus the q's at security would appear to rule that out in view of the lost viewing time!
Will try and post a log. Trip scheduled for 10/10.

Peter
