Watched the two days of the Tour De France in Yorkshire on French TV.
I love this part of the world and it was great to see so well presented. Of course the good weather helped.
The French broadcasters were effervescent in their praise of the countryside and the turnout. Given that the programme goes to all over the world, the coverage of local landmarks, villages, churches, parks and stately homes was fantastic, and provided publicity for Yorkshire which simply could not be bought at any price.
From remarks made by friends to me yesterday, Yorkshire has made its mark. The guy who thought it up should be given a medal.

For those interested, a couple of my videos from Knaresborough, North Yorkshire yesterday morning... Part of the Caravan.... youtube.com/watch?v=eSNc50FhEGYThe peloton and all associated vehicles following behind... youtube.com/watch?v=3ZKJ_b2q8x8I was in Harrogate the previous. day for the end of stage one, the atmosphere was fantastic and Knaresborough was absolutely buzzing yesterday. Everyone was thrilled by the occasion - a once-in- a-lifetime event. As someone said...well done Yorkshire, now take the rest of the week off!! Dave
