An abundance of I.O.M reg oligarch playthings. Hawker is more up to date on these things than I, but I imagine the proliferation of Manx registrations is because the IOM is not a member of the EU or the Commonwealth, so it would be very difficult for any sanctions to be imposed upon the aircraft, especially given the current political situation. In my day it was Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, but if you wanted to hedge your bets, there was always Aruba. Clearly that option is still in use.

Garstonboy, if the IOM are not (according) to you a member of the Commonwealth, then why do they compete in the Commonwealth Games???

From Wiki:
Commonwealth of Nations The Isle of Man is not itself a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. By virtue of its relationship with the United Kingdom, it takes part in several Commonwealth institutions, including the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the Commonwealth Games. The Government of the Isle of Man has made calls for a more integrated relationship with the Commonwealth,[44] including more direct representation and enhanced participation in Commonwealth organisations and meetings, including Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings.[45] The Chief Minister of the Isle of Man has said: "A closer connection with the Commonwealth itself would be a welcome further development of the Island’s international relationships"[46]
