Hi All, Usual question from me is anyone aware of any works affecting the bridge and link road past ICI to the M56 at junction 12 I'm aware of the Creamfields event but most of the traffic i presume will use the more direct route using the expressway through to Daresbury. I would be grateful for any useful information. Many thanks Les McS

Les, it is the devil or the deep blue sea this weekend. J11 could be busy with the Creamfields traffic at Daresbury and the Expressway down to J12 was single file earlier in the week. I would go for J11 if it was me. Also an early heads-up for any one using the bridge on Monday the 8th of September it will be closed to all traffic for one hour, 10:30-11:30 for the Round Britain cycle race. One hour could mean a couple of hours with the traffic queuing up to cross after the riders have gone thru'. Hope this helps Beemer.

I understand Jupiter is in conjunction with Venus at present. This will ,undoubtedly, create massive bridge closures for the next 3 months( at least).

I'll hi-jack this topic, as it is hardly worth another 'Runcorn Bridge' thread.
Came over the Bridge from Runcorn around 12.15pm on Tuesday 16th September. Oddly considering the time of day, traffic queuing and moving across Bridge at 'rush hour' speed (or lack of) - soon it became evident why even though both lanes from Runcorn were flowing and clear.
On the from Widnes side there was no traffic flowing, as a quarter of the way across there was a larger model BMW at right-angles to the roadway (engine towards the railings), across the grill of a large HGV Artic' which was facing the correct way! At a glance not too much damage evident to either vehicle, although they appeared to be touching. Lots of Police, Fire Appliances etc - but little action as I flashed past. Needless to say chaos with stuck traffic and the police closing the Widnes side of the bridge and diverting all traffic down into Widnes.
Presume as one or other of the vehicles changed lane, the rear of the BMW must have just touched the cab of the HGV, enough to swing it into the path of the truck. Rather odd, but I do recall the u-tube viral of a HGV pushing a car at right-angles for miles on a motorway a few years back.
At least this time I was going the clear direction. Spent near 3 hours of last Sunday afternoon static on the A55, while the Police, Ambulance, Forensic Accident Investigators and Air Ambulance attended a fatal about quarter of a mile ahead. A HGV specialist products tanker apparently pulled out into the path of a motor cyclist who went underneath. The bike was sat on its rest little damaged, with not far away a sad pile of biker's leathers, as we passed once a lane was opened up. Makes you think though!
