An e-mail received from LJLA on 16 March detailed KLM special offers from LJLA. Tried to book a trip to Vienna at £149 but no fares available at this price. Went to the Special Offer section of the KLM website and did, in fact, find a series of promotional fares. However, LJLA as a start location was not even listed on this section. My question is: why advertise routes and offers when they. seemingly, cannot be accessed from LJLA on the KLM website? Similarly, why is LJLA not on their airport list when a new service- including Special Offers - is about to start? My enquiry of KLM is still awaiting a reply.

Response from KLM asked me to phone them as an e-mail reply was too complex. Phoned but was put through to a selling desk but nonetheless I explained the problem. The response was not very encouraging as the young lady could only find a fare at £224 instead of the £149 as advertised by LJLA. On her terminal she could not bring up the Special Offers section which has LJLA omitted. Not very encouraging and this she had the good grace to admit. I left it with her to raise the issue of the Liverpool omission with the powers that be within KLM. My thought is that the selling arm of any business is interested in getting results and my efforts to get LJLA included may be forgotten in her rush to meet targets. Am I being cynical here? Is there any other action I can take to get LJLA included on the Special Offer section? Over to you!!!

The ads have that little word that means so much, 'from'.
That will be their get out.
But contact the airport managers via email and tell them what you are looking for and how you cannot find it and let them bring it up with the KLM people with whom they will have made contact.

Looking at the KLM website it seems that the focus of special offers from / to Liverpool is on long haul routes rather than short haul European ones. The only European route shown is Amsterdam itself. There do, however, appear to be some fantastic bargains to be had to the USA and China.
Given that one of the main advantages of the KLM service is plugging Liverpool into the long haul worldwide network it is perhaps no surprise that the marketing focus reflects this. It may also be an initial concession to Easyjet and Ryanair to not focus on their key European markets (I know, Vienna isn't one of them yet!!). However, there does appear to be a degree of 'shoot yourself in the foot why don't you' in the e-mail from the airport and the link on their website!!!

The e-mail from LJLA specifies set prices for the sale. No bone of contention is that the KLM website does not allow you access to these fares. Look at the 'Special Offer" section at the top of their web page and you will NOT find Liverpool listed. Has anyone an e-mail contact address at LJLA to whom I can address this issue? I realise that the sale ends today but it would be better to make LJLA aware of these shortcomings on the KLM website in case of further "Special Offers".

What may be a fast way for a resolution is a telephone call the the Radio Merseyside phone in programme at luch time giving them details of the problem, and whenever there is a complaint on that programme about the airport, they usually have a very fast response from the airport management.

Thanks for the suggestion, John F, but I don't think so. As the offer is ended today I would not want to wash anyone's dirty washing - particularly the airport's - in public. My thought was that a quiet word in the proper ear may prevent such an occurence in future.

I am aware that the matter has been brought to the airport's attention and there have been discussions with KLM on the presentation of information.
Main thing is we now have the connections - let's ensure it is a success!

Of course but this opportunity has now been and gone and those passengers lost to LPL.
