The matrix sign on the bridge said there would be lane closures this weekend 21st and 22nd. It has now up-dated lane closures until 29th. It is unclear if that just means next weekend 28th and 29th I don't know. It's a pain in the backside which ever it is. Regards Beemer.

Brian Most residents in both Widnes and Runcorn said "We needed a new Bridge " now it's started everyone seems to be complaining , you can't have your cake and eat it. There will be a lot more lane closures before it's finished and a lot more moaning about the road conditions.

Just to add to this the Daresbury Expressway that runs from the bridge to Daresbury will close for 18 months from March 30th. You will be diverted through the Astmoor Industrial estate for about a mile or so before rejoining the expressway. Hope this helps. Regards Beemer.

Makes you wonder why they caused all the recent disruption removing the roundabout etc at the top end, and did not plan it so all the disruption was done at the same time when road closed.

This is one hell of a road closure. Traffic travelling from Daresbury towards Junction 12 past Ineos/ICI will have to bear left just before the railway bridge and go across the Runcorn bridge to Ditton. Go around the island and cross back over the Runcorn bridge staying in the right hand lane around the long left hand bend and back onto the Expressway. I despair!!!

Left early this morning for Manchester Airport and decided to risk going over the bridge and trying the Astmoor Diversion , . Travelling over the bridge was quick with hardly any traffic and the diversion was clear for most of the way with only a coupe of cars seen , altogether adding just over a mile to the journey. The simple answer to miss most of the traffic is leave early I arrived at Manchester 1 hour before the AVP opened . I would just like to say if you can't go early do not bother as I would imagine it would be a very slow trip on the diversion in single line traffic Regards blueaircraft79 (Peter)

It's a nightmare at rush hour as it is without adding the extra traffic from this additional diversion. It took me 80 minutes to get from Hale to Northwich on Monday gone (a grand total of 22 miles). I think I'll be asking to work from home :-(
