Ste that must be a long time ago! The've been civilised since they came under the Merseyside umberella. Some are still kicking and fighting though! ;D ;D Yes, 32 years ago now but still seems like yesterday. Do the local chippy's still make watery curry with raisins?

Great shots of the buses. Shame no photos of the Atlanteans which replaced the green giants. I remember in the mid sixties being able to go to Goodison with ten shillings (Ten Bob) or 50 pence these days. That ten bob paid for my bus fare to and from Goodison No 5 to Penny lane from Woolton and then the 46 to Walton, entrance into the game. Programme, bag of chips and still have some change. £38 now just to get into the game before you have a pint and get a programme. Happy Days Bob

Yes all three. I didn't like driving the single decker though. They were great when they were new but due to the very hard suspensions and lack of interior maintenance they quickly became sheds and most of us were glad to see the back of them. The other two were great to drive but leaked like mad when it rained. Typical of the Alexander body which at one time made up most of the MTL fleet and earned it the title of "the fair weather bus company". 238 was one of the first fully automatic double deckers we had and was stolen from Garston garage. It was quickly recovered though at great cost to MTL as crains had to be used to excavate it from Garston dock. Due to a design floor the type had to be returned to Alexander to have the bodies strengthened and will not be able to be returned to the way they looked when first delivered. Still she dried out well and nice to see her being preserved Steve
