A PASSENGER in an air force display plane reached forward to steady himself during a manoeuvre - and activated the ejector seat. The novice flier was blasted 300ft into the sky by the chair's twin emergency rockets. He returned safely to earth by parachute near Langebaanweg, South Africa. The unnamed guest had been given special permission to fly in the Pilatus PC-7 Mk II, one of the planes of South Africa's Silver Falcons aerobatics team. A pilot instructor said: "He's lucky not to have been hurt. You need special training to eject from an aircraft." The plane has been taken out of action for repairs to be carried out.
