We have a large snake taken up residence in our pool house/garden shed. The building has a wooden floor which, for ventilation, is not a tight fit. Plenty of voids for snake escape. Sydney, as we call him, is more than a metre long and about 3cm diameter at his widest. A whip snake, he is fairly aggressive, attack being his form of defence. They bite but are not toxic. He is fast as lightning and every time I try to grab at him, with gloves on, he scurries away or strikes out. He is there regularly about 3pm, cuddled up against the pool pump for maximum warmth. Whether or not this after his feast of Gecko or mouse, I do not know. By an amazing coincidence, in our village here in France, there is a Brit, Roger Meek, who it turns out is an expert on snakes and slithery things, He wants me to keep Sydney where he is for collection and eventual re housing. Here is an extract of Roger'e site. Sydney is very similar to the one recovered from a near neighbour's house. The tiles shown are 30cm square.
