If the 2016 schedules on here are anything like that being reported then Ryanair are taking out between 25% and 40% of it 2015 schedules.
I don't remember it being to that level from easyjet.
One less based FR aircraft equals 3 departures per day (567 seats).

Great news, its good to see other airlines thinking of LPL, FR / EZY although very good for the airport, have a bit too much of a strangle hold.

Very good news and a great airline to travel with. Used them several times from Alicante, but interestingly I have found it cheaper to book one of their flights via Iberia! I have just tried to book Alicante to Liverpool, but as yet the option is not available. At least I now have the option to book Alicante to Barcelona and then Barcelona to Liverpool. No doubt a bit dearer than using easyJet but good for a spotting opportunity Bill

Competition is what is needed to give our 2 main carriers a kick up the nether regions, and well done to the management once again. I sent an email to jet 2 last night telling them that the airport is crying out for them, with extra capacity needed on a lot of routes for example the canaries Greece and Spain. Let`s hope they are now taking notice and good luck to Vueling they will do very well on Barcelona.

Great to get another Airline onboard and slowly reduce our reliance on the big two,Hopefully if it does well they can do a few other routes that are lacking in capacity especially during the summer months.

Recently, in a Twitter exchange, Seville Airport hinted/suggested the air link to LPL is to be restored.
Speculation, of course, but Vueling is a fairly big operator out of Seville so maybe it could be them.

I'm not surprised Vueling has decided to serve the Barcelona route from Liverpool. I've travelled to Barcelona a fare few times from Liverpool with Easyjet and the flights have alwys been full both ways with both business & leisure passengers. There were a couple of weeks during the Summer this year when both the EZY/RYR websites were showing as sold out for Barcelona - it is a very popular route. Today's news is very welcome. I'm loving all the fantastic news coming out of the airport lately.

Great news! Is this the first time we've had 3 operators on the same route simultaneously? I hope it's successful, as it will show the potential for other routes where Ezy/Ryr have a monopoly.

Optimum, it's fantastic that you have taken the time and effort to write to Jet 2. I'm not convinced though that they are the type of operator that the airport is seeking. If you consider that Andrew Cornish has stated that he sees Liverpool as a boutique airport and consider recent new operators: Vueling, Czech, Aer Lingus and new Flybe routes including Edinburgh, it tends to point away from bottom end airlines. Thomson doesn't position itself as a cheap player in the holiday market. Volume isn't all in business and I would hope we are moving away from the type of passenger who kicks up a stink at paying a £2 drop off charge. Competition is what is needed to give our 2 main carriers a kick up the nether regions, and well done to the management once again. I sent an email to jet 2 last night telling them that the airport is crying out for them, with extra capacity needed on a lot of routes for example the canaries Greece and Spain. I notice it is now possible to book to a range of other destinations in Spain via Barcelona, including the Canary islands. The connections are not always the best, and the prices are in my opinion, a bit on the high side, but this service by Vueling is opening up alternative routings and some new destinations.
I hope this is a success as these will all eventually appear as IAG code shares.

One significant point in this is that Vueling use the main terminal in Barcelona, not the cattle-shed which easy and Ryanair use on the cargo side of the airfield. This would make any transfers much easier (onto other IB flights for example), It's interesting to see that Vueling are taking on easy and Ryanair on this route. Barcelona is a year-round destination because of its mild climate and a very popular destination generally from the UK. It should do well.
